Location

Szydłowiec is the southern gateway to Mazovia and is located near the border with the Świętokrzyskie Province. It is located halfway between Warsaw and Cracow.
Infrastructure
Through Szydłowiec runs one of the most important national roads S7 which is part of the European route E77 running from Russia through the Baltic states, Poland, Slovakia as far as Hungary. Radom Airport is located 30 km north of the town while Warsaw Chopin Airport is located100 km further north. International airports in Cracow, Łódź and Lublin are about 160 km away from Szydłowiec.

Tourist attractions

Szydlowiec is 600 years old dating back to the beginning of the thirteenth century. There are many buildings of historical interest in the town including the fifteenth and sixteenth century church, a Renaissance town hall, a fifteenth century castle with the surrounding Radziwill Park. The Castle now houses the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments with many unique exhibits. Enthusiasts of cultural events have a wide range of regulal events to choose from, for example Szydlowieckie Wianki - an event dating back to pagan times, Mazel Tow – Jewish Culture Day, Szydlowieckie Zygmunty – the annual Szydlowiec days filled with traditional festivities and a variety of attractions. Szydlowiec is surrounded by many places of scenic beauty. If you would like to break out of the hustle and bustle of cities like Warsaw, Cracow, Radom or Kielce you will find what you need just outside Szydlowiec. The area surrounding the town is excellent for outdoor activities like walking, cycling or horse riding.
